Super Star!

Maddie was a superstar at her soccer game today! We don't keep score, but we blew the other team away. She scored two goals on her own, but her team scored like 20 thanks to her (but who's counting)! She was awesome. Those little legs never stopped running. We're so proud of her and how she just keeps on going and keeps on trying. She is the funniest and smartest 5 year old we have ever seen. She's so smart its hard for us to remember sometimes that she is only five. We have been doing a study from "Grace Based Parenting" and as I'm typing this I am reminded about a session that warned parents about giving their children empty praise. His example was not to tell your child they are the best slider in the whole world....when anyone can slide down a slide. Hmmm, but isn't she the best slider in the world? Really though, I'm not throwing out empty praise. All of what I said is true. She truly is the smartest and funniest 5 year old I've ever seen and she really was a soccer superstar today. And most of all, she has a sweet heart and loves Jesus. We love her.

Yep....

Sorry, this one's a little crude, but it made us laugh. We were practicing softball in the front yard with Maddie. Michael was playing catcher, Maddie was batting and I was pitching. I pitched and Maddie swung and missed. Michael threw the ball back to me but it was a little short and rolled between my legs. Michael yells to the neighborhood...."look Maddie....Mom has a hole between her legs!"........................................................................yep.

What?!

So, we live in the country. Which means, we pass a lot of interesting things on our way to and from our daily lives. Yesterday, I passed a man mowing his front yard.....wearing a construction hat....with two cupholders taped to each side....a can of Budweiser in each cupholder....and a straw tube running from each can to his mouth. I guess that's one way to make mowing the yard more fun! No kidding. Oh, and I would have taken a picture but I was afraid he may release his mangy pit bull that was tied to the tree chewing on an empty Budweiser can. I hear drunk pit bulls get really aggressive.
